NURTURANCE
A Mayan Abdominal Womb Healing Immersion with ceremony and prayer
October 1st-7th 2024, in the lush mountains of Chirripo
Mayan Abdominal Massage; Ancient Mayan Healing technique for Body, Womb and Mother Earth.
We are excited that you are interested in this millenary healing art. This supports its preservation as it is becoming widely used around the world.
Even though controversial, it is not valued in Guatemala, where it comes from….
But the work is rippling inward as well and this is slowly changing as midwives are becoming revalued for their work. The history is long and the effects of the invasion and the more recent civil war are strongly felt in the fast changing – modern day Maya world. There are many deep layers to the realities lived in Guatemala..

The Technique of Maya Abdominal Therapy taught by Maria Eugenia Gobbato who studied for years with Dona Domingo one of the oldest living midwives in San Marcos, Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, is coming to Costa Rica!
Maria a native from Guatemala, is aware of the responsibility in taking it out of its context to offer in different settings and countries. She calls on the guidance of the ancestors and trusts that this medicine goes to those who are needed and those who carry it do so with respect and tribute to the grandmother and grandfather teachers who hold and share this wisdom.
This technique brings together bodywork, traditional remedies, herbal knowledge and spiritual healing to support the restoration of the body and being to a state of wholeness – where the chu’lel (a Maya word for life force energy) can flow freely.
Maria has trained hundreds of therapists worldwide. She honors this lineage by keeping alive the sacred healing knowledge
We have tailored this one week immersion from the experience gathered and collected over 12 years of collaboration with Maya midwives and healers. Offering a journey into the art of Mayan healing, in this journey we hope you can absorb and feel as much of the medicine offered through this work that is truly a way of living.
Living in more connection and awareness of our interactions with the world and cosmos. Realizing that we are part and one with all. Bringing the sacred back to all that we do and remembering the ways of our ancestors as guiding stepping stones for our path.
The healing benefits:
This work restores biochemical balance by rectifying biomechanical integrity. In this way, it can be supportive to many reproductive, digestive and structural concerns – including infertility, menstrual conditions, fibroids, endometriosis, GERD, IBS, Crohn’s disease, adhesions, scarring, constipation, chronic fatigue, migraines and chronic pain. It can be a potent ally on fertility journeys, working in conjunction with assisted reproductive technologies. Spiritual healing in this tradition can support embodiment, integration and the release of all manner of trauma.
Contraindications:
During menstruation, pregnancy and with IUD.

Our one week immersion:
This 45 hr. Introduction course to Maya Abdominal Massage gives you the training to perform this ancestral healing technique on yourself, deepening the connection to our bodies. It also offers direct contact to the foundation of Maya healing, a space to connect and immerse yourself in this divine art of service so you can then offer it to others, as done by the Maya midwives.
We will practice to hold space and offer this healing art. It is a highly effective healing modality that is used for a wide range of pathologies and brings balance back to the body: physical, emotional and energetic. It is used for men and children as well and specifically for women after giving birth, to help the uterus contract back to its original position and size.
During this week we learn the essentials to practice and give the massage to others, working on each other and incorporating as much practical hands-on work as possible.
What you will learn:

The abdomen is our power center. For many women and men, there is trauma stored in our whole body. Reconnecting to our body and listening to it allows us to heal. We must reconnect to our uterus! This sacred magical organ in our core.

We will also take a peek into the life of local Maya midwives who will share their lives and experience with us. They learn through their dreams and direct connection to nature, plants and God and have served their communities for over 30 years.

We will use local plants from Costa Rica to make a tea for yoni steams and the herbal bath in the "tuj". We will learn to make our own homemade heating balm for the massage, using the finest oils to treat our bodies with only the best!

Students receive a treatment of three massages during the course, and on the last day we receive the massage in a "tuj" ceremony. The tuj is a traditional wet sauna. You will receive a printed manual and a hand woven faja (long fabric) from Guatemala used especially for the massage.

Meet your guides:
Embarking on her transformative womb healing journey in 2017, Tish discovered the sacred realm of this practice during its early, less-explored days. Initiated through the SACRED CYCLES COMMUNITY DOULA TRAINING in Costa Rica, she found inspiration under the guidance of mentors like Teresa Of La Lupa Via, Mirinda Grey, and Bethany Webster. Tish’s path expanded exponentially. Guided by the wisdom of revered mentors like Doña Domingo in Guatemala and Maria Eugenia Gobbato, Tish successfully purged layers of pain and trauma stored in her womb. Now, after a seven-year journey, Tish joyfully extends her knowledge by offering personalized 1:1 retreats in Costa Rica, inviting others to delve into the profound and transformative practice of womb healing
